Here are some of the things I did to earn enough gold that I was able to get Artisan and Cold Weather Flying for my 3 Level 80 characters in World of Warcraft. (Artisan is required to ride Epic Mounts and is 4000 Gold and Cold Weather Flying is to gain ability to fly in Northrend and is 1000 Gold).

1. Collect Small Eggs and Sell in the Auction House

Good for Lowbies. You don’t need to have a Profession for this.

My main characters are all Horde and they managed to get plenty of Gold even at low levels (below level 10) because I got them to farm Small Eggs at Eversong Woods (home of the Blood Elves). They drop from Crazed Dragonhawks and the drop rate is 100%. The average price used to be 2 gold for a stack of 20, these days they can go up to 10 gold for a stack of 20. During the Christmas period when people need them for recipes, they can go up to 50 gold for a stack of 20.

Here is where you’ll find crazed dragonhawks in Eversong Woods:

Here’s what the crazed dragonhawks look like:

My Alliance characters went to Azuremyst Isle to gather Small Eggs from various Owl Beasts and Timberstriders.

2. Gather Herbs and Sell at the Auction House

For Lowbies, Herbalism is the best profession to get as you don’t need any equipment for this.

You simply gather various herbs and sell them at the Auction House. Even when you get to high levels, this is a guaranteed gold maker. Plus, you won’t go broke being a herbalist unlike some professions where you spend a lot buying materials.

3. Gather Cloth and Sell at the Auction House

By now, you should get the drift that whatever you acquire, you sell at the Auction House to make Gold.

Cloth are always needed by for certain professions or for making bandaids or gaining reputation in factions. Some cloth are worth more than others, like wool cloth. People tend to buy these no matter how expensive they get because some just can’t be bothered farming them. Cloth usually drops from general NPC mobs around the place, including dungeons.

Alliance Wool Cloth AuctionAlliance sell wool cloth cheaper in the same server, Spinebreaker.

4. Make or Break Stuff and Sell at Auction House

Level up in a couple of professions, make or break stuff and sell it at the auction house.

This is how I regularly make gold for my Tailor. Make Bags and Sell.

My first main was able to get all her riding training when it was still more expensive than what they are now because she sold heaps and heaps of bags! Particularly, Netherweave bags. They used to be sold for 5 to 6 gold each, now you will see them being sold for up to 18 gold a bag. You can either farm for the cloth or buy them. I used to just buy them when netherweave cloth was going for 2 gold for a stack of 20. Bags sell very quickly because people are always creating alts and they need bags for them. All the time!

I used to make bags in between battlegrounds and get notifications that they’re sold during the battleground. They sold like hotcakes!

My suggestion for Enchanters… Disenchant Materials and Sell!

I also had a low level alternative character who helped my first main get her Artisan Riding. What I did was buy 30 gold worth of green items at the auction house, disenchanted them and sold the materials at the auction house. I still do this every now and then and I usually make 50 to 80 gold profit per round.

5. Do Battlegrounds, Buy Epic Gems and Sell at Auction House

This is for those who end up spending most of their time doing Battlegrounds.

These days, you can gather Honor Points so easily compared to before the Random Battlegrounds. Epic Gems are 10 000 Honor Points each and you can sell these for around 100 to 130 gold at the auction house. If you’re a Jewel Crafter, turn them into Epic Gems for Item Slots like Bold Cardinal Ruby or Smooth King’s Amber, etc. Some of these used to be sold for over 200 gold each. There has been a considerable drop rate as of late and they are now being sold for around 100 to 130 gold each.

6. Create Epic Jewel Items and Sell at Auction House

This is how my Jewel Crafters made a lot of gold.

Titanium Rings and Necklaces used to sell for 2000 gold each but now they are down to an average of 700 gold. This is still a good way to get a lot of gold. I was able to take advantage of the high prices before, that’s how I was able to get the Artisan Training for my other 2 main characters. I was even able to buy Rep Mounts that was for 3000 gold each. There are also low level jewel items that sell for 15 to 30 gold each.

7. Farm Dungeons and Sell Drops at Auction House

If you have mid to high level characters, solo dungeons like Scarlet Monestary and sell the drops you get at the Auction House. Even Stormwind is good for the wool cloth.

8. Daily Quests

You don’t have to sell stuff at the auction house to get gold. If you have level 70+, you can do Dailies around Northrend. Each Daily Quest pays around 9 to 13 gold each. I usually do the ones in Grizzly Hills for Warsong Hold as they are close proximity to each other, including the ones in Venture Bay. If you don’t have Wrath of the Lich King, Isle of Quel’danas is still a good place to rake in gold from dailies.

9. Make Food and Sell at Auction House

This is for those who can Cook.

Whether you farm the meat yourself or buy at the auction house, make food that buffs and sell for stacks of 10 or 20. High level food can sell for 20 to 50 gold for a stack of 20. Maybe even more depending on the demand.

10. Buy Materials at Vendors and Sell at Auction House

I normally take advantage of World events, especially anything which involves cooking recipes. I buy simple ingredients like Simple Flour and sell it for a ridiculous amount. These things only cost coppers and I sold a stack of 20 for 10 gold. Some people are too lazy or don’t even know you can buy this at a general or trade vendor, which are usually just next door to the auction house.

Other things I’ve sold are Ice Cold Milk, threads (like eternium and runed), recipes from vendors and corpse dust (this is for Death Knights and a lot of the newbies don’t know where to get them so they buy it from the auction house). Sell them for 5 to 10 times its normal price and you’re as good as gold.

There are guides and things available on the internet you can buy to find out how other people make their gold, like Warcraft Supreme, which was written by several hard core WoW players, who claim they have conquered just about everything in WoW.

This is Complete Gold Guide is for those who don’t have time to experiment how to get more gold in WoW and want to know which methods of earning gold actually work.
